Quilting Groups - Overview
For the American pioneers it became part of their culture to hold 'quilting bees'. The quilting bee was a social event where family, friends and neighbours would meet up, generally with the intention of completing a quilt in one day. Such events were eagerly anticipated social occasions where everyone would sew whilst catching up on local news and events.
Today, quilting groups not only provide a way of meeting people with the same interest in patchwork quilting; they are a means of finding out and learning about different techniques, colour combining and discussing new fabrics and prints.
