As with cream, beige is a neutral colour and so suitable as a background colour or foundation for many projects. It is created by mixing brown with white and there are many tints of beige including fawn, camel, sandy, oatmeal and ecru.
Elegantly Blended Shades
Beige can be mixed with pale cream for a coffee and cream effect. Add darker shades of brown for an elegant design or alternatively add small amounts of dark colours such as deep red or black to prevent a project from becoming too flat.
Combine With Natural Tones
Flower and fruit prints rest easy on a beige background, while a sandy beige mixes well with blues, oranges and yellows for a seascape project.
As a tint of brown beige can be used as a useful border or frame for your project as it will not compete with the colours in your quilt design.
